Keith Andrews' superb free-kick extended MK Dons' lead at the top of League Two to eight points with a 1-0 victory over Mansfield. The Dons captain struck his 10th goal of the season in the 58th minute to defeat a determined Mansfield side after the league leaders started the game slowly.
Andrews saw a header cleared off the line by Gareth Jelleyman as they tried in vain to break down a resilient Mansfield defence.
In reply, Mansfield's Danny Sleath forced a good save out of goalkeeper Willy Gueret with his half volley from just inside the area.
After the break, the hosts continued to struggle to find a breakthrough but Andrews spared their blushes with a piece of magic midway through the half.
The former Wolves midfielder struck a curling 25-yard free-kick and despite veteran goalkeeper Carl Muggleton pushing the ball against the bar, it bounced over the line.
