Tue 01 Jan, 02:45 PM

Adam Eckersley could make his 'second' Port Vale debut against Cheltenham as League One's bottom pair meet at Whaddon Road on Wednesday. The 22-year-old defender will have put pen to paper in time to face Town following his permanent move from Manchester United, having appeared twice for Vale in October on loan.

Vale boss Lee Sinnott will hope Marc Laird and Colin Miles are fit to return after the pair missed the weekend defeat to Luton.

Jason Talbot was passed fit to play in that game and will hope he can retain his place in Sinnott's starting line-up.

Mark Salmon and Craig Rocastle were used as substitutes against the Hatters and could be promoted to the starting XI.

Striker Marc Richards was again forced to settle for a place on the bench and he too could come into contention as the Valiants look to end a four-game winless streak.
