Arsenal v West Ham

Arsene Wenger is expected to recall Emmanuel Adebayor after he rested the striker for the 4-1 victory over Everton, although Eduardo da Silva is fighting to keep his place after scoring his first two Premier League goals in the win. Theo Walcott (illness) and Robin van Persie (thigh) are out. West Ham are close to welcoming back a number of players from long-term injuries, although the match comes too soon for Matthew Etherington, Craig Bellamy, Lee Bowyer and Danny Gabbidon. Luis Boa Morte will have a fitness test on a thigh strain, and could take a place on the bench.

Reading v Portsmouth

Reading will be hoping to bounce back from their amazing 6-4 defeat to Tottenham when they face Portsmouth at the Madejski Stadium. But Steve Coppell's side will not be helped by the continued absence of Brynjar Gunnarsson, who is still serving a three-match ban for his red card in the 1-1 draw against West Ham on Boxing Day. Nicky Shorey is set to shake off a stomach bug in time for Tuesday's match, but John Oster (ankle) and Glen Little (heel) are definitely out. Michael Duberry has been back in training and could feature for the Royals. Portsmouth could welcome Glen Johnson and Sulley Muntari back into the side but Sean Davies, Noe Pamarot and Pedro Mendes all look like missing out.

Middlesbrough v Everton

Middlesbrough welcome back skipper George Boateng after a ban and midfielder Gary O'Neil should be fit after limping off with cramp at Fratton Park at the weekend. David Wheater (virus), midfielder Fabio Rochemback (calf) and striker Jeremie Aliadiere (hamstring) could also be available for selection. Everton will be without Mikel Arteta as the Spaniard starts a ban following his red card for an elbow on Cesc Fabregas at the weekend; the Toffees will rely on the in-form Tim Cahill for much of their creativity in midfield. Striker Yakubu is set to return to the Riverside for the first time since his acrimonious departure over the summer, but Leon Osman and Thomas Gravesen miss out through injury.

Manchester United v Birmingham City

United are likely to have both Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick available again after the pair missed the defeat at Upton Park through illness; boss Alex Ferguson is confident they will have shaken off the virus to play some part at Old Trafford. Edwin van der Sar (groin) remains on the sidelines, so Tomasz Kuszczak continues in goal, while Brazilian midfielder Anderson could earn a recall. Mehdi Nafti is poised to get the nod ahead of Damien Johnson in the Birmingham midfield while Johann Djourou is available for the last time before he completes his loan spell and returns to Arsenal.

Aston Villa v Tottenham (17:20)

Aston Villa will be without big striker John Carew for the visit of Tottenham after he injured a knee in the 2-1 fightback victory over Wigan, though defender Curtis Davies is hoping for another start after scoring the equaliser at the JJB. Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora is back from suspension for Juande Ramos' side, who also have striker Darren Bent available after a leg injury. However, Michael Dawson has been struggling with migraines and could again miss out.
