Dowie set to give Dann the nod

Fri 01 Feb, 01:45 PM

Coventry manager Iain Dowie could hand a debut to new signing Scott Dann when the Sky Blues host Barnsley in the Championship on Saturday. The 20-year-old became the second Walsall defender to join the club this week when he moved for an undisclosed fee late on transfer deadline day, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Dann will be reunited at the Ricoh Arena with Dan Fox, who joined City on Monday and made his debut in the defeat at Hull a day later.

Dowie will be without strikers Kevin Kyle and Dele Adebola after allowing them to leave the club to join Championship rivals Wolves and Bristol City respectively.

That means that Robbie Simpson or Leon Best will be recalled to the starting XI to partner top scorer Michael Mifsud in attack.

Andy Marshall (back) could be patched up sufficiently to make a return to the squad after the club failed in their attempts to sign a goalkeeper before the transfer deadline.
