Barnsley have been dealt a blow by the news that goalkeeper Heinz Muller could be sidelined for up to six months after sustaining knee ligament damage.
The German limped through 75 minutes in a match against Colchester on Tuesday, but was injured accidentally in a fall after he punched away a cross.
The extent of the injury was more serious than first feared.
"I'm devastated and close to tears," Muller told the Sheffield Star. "I asked to be substituted at half-time but we didn't have a reserve goalie.
"It's an injury to the right knee, something to do with the ligament. I will be out for at least the next six months.
"It is typical: the same thing happened when I was on my way up in Germany, but this is my worst injury ever and came at the most terrible time."
Muller pulled off a string of oustanding saves in the second half to keep the Us at bay and earn three points for his club.
