Arjen Robben inspired Real Madrid to a 2-0 victory at Numancia in La Liga, making it six wins out of six for the champions as team captain Raul equalled the club scoring record.
Two quick goals at the start of the second half settled the issue, the Dutch winger helping set up Raul for his 307th Real goal, equalling the club record held by Alfredo di Stefano.
Robben then bagged the second with a trademark run in off the right flank and a shot from the edge of the area.
Juande Ramos's side strengthened their hold on second place on 44 points but are still nine short of leaders Barcelona who visit Racing Santander on Sunday.
Third-placed Sevilla, on 38 points, travel to Sporting Gijon on Sunday.
Numancia's Javier del Pino headed against the post as the home side kept Real at bay in a chilly first-half, with Robben closely marshalled.
However, three minutes into the second period it was Robben's run that created the opening for Raul to slot in Gonzalo Higuain's parried shot.
With Numancia still reeling, Robben raced through to score the second in the 56th and the visitors comfortably maintained their advantage despite Fernando Gago being sent off for picking up his second yellow card near the end.
Atheletic Bilbao 3-2 Malaga
Athletic Bilbao came from behind to beat Malaga 3-2 in a pulsating Primera Liga encounter on Saturday.
Promoted Malaga twice took the lead at San Mames through Albert Luque and Lolo and were close to breaking into the Champions League places.
But Bilbao's in-form striker Fernando Llorente set up the first equaliser for Fran Yeste just before the break.
Llorente then powered in a spectacular goal in the 71st minute before Markel Susaeta rose to head the winner four minutes from time.
Malaga stay seventh with 32 points, three ahead of ninth-placed Bilbao, who travel to Sevilla in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final on Wednesday.

raul .love him or hate him ever one go diferent opinion .thanks good
People criticise his goal ratio but bear in mind, he is a second striker and not a Nistelrooy type of player. He sits behind the striker and his goal and assist figures have always been on double figures. Also keep in mind that between 2003-2006, those retarded managers we had played him as a winger and nowhere near the goal. Ashley B., Di Stefano has a better record and even though players are better equiped now, football in the 50's is still at an early age. The tactics and strategies are nothing to the one we have right now, thus defenders back then aren't as good as they are today.
And Seri A? What a crock of garbage. Raul only scored 250ish in Spain and 65 in the Champions League, including goals in two champions league final. Raul surpasses almost every current footballer today and he is a legend that is still playing. Don't bring down his achievement just because your idol has underachieved.
Raul is not like any other footballer
the dedication he had shown to madrid
all these years is a prove of that, he
is not just a madrid player but a lover
of real madrid. lets give honor to whom
honor is due RAUL IS A LEGEND.
gangrats to raul a real legend. from a barcelona fan
RAUL 4 LIFE WOOP WOOP
Raul is a good player Di Stefano was a great player and a legend.Lets not forget Alfredo di Stefano was 27 years old when he joined Real there is no comparison between the two. Mr. Glyn D is mistaken he does not know much about the Liga when he says "to do it in the Liga is incredible" at the viceversa scoring in the Liga its easy instead scoring in the Serie A 307 goals its impossible.
alen.munja - you couldn't be further from the truth.
Not only do they specifically taylor sports equipment to score more goals (special rubber on boots, lighter balls which swerve in the air, etc) but the number of games per season has steadily increased so that the number of games
Raul - App: 502, Goals: 307 in 15 years
Alfredo di Stéfano - App: 521, Goals: 377 in 23 years
Speaks for itself.
space and time?
I think that Raul's record is better than Di Stafano's simply because football today is advanced, and it is harder to score goals, and that makes this record so much bigger. LONG LIVE RAUL!!!
Raul, simply a LEGEND!!!!
Raul, has proved himself an all time great striker, 307 goals in any career is superb, to do it in La Liga is incredible, even Di Stefano would be proud of him eclipsing his record in the next game(s)
