Newcastle United v Sunderland (13:30)

Newcastle have 12 players injured in their first-team squad with Michael Owen and Joey Barton the latest additions to the list. New signing Kevin Nolan is not expected to play, while Shay Given and Charles N'Zogbia have played their last games for the club. Nicky Butt is back from suspension.

Sunderland's key midfield man Kieran Richardson starts after recovering from an ankle injury, but Teemu Tainio is a major doubt. George McCartney is expected to play despite an ongoing foot problem.

Liverpool v Chelsea (16:00)

Philipp Degen is Liverpool's only injured player, but that does not make it any easier to predict what team Rafael Benitez is going to pick. There may be changes on the flanks, with Albert Riera and Dirk Kuyt replacing Ryan Babel and Yossi Benayoun, but Robbie Keane is left out of the squad.

Chelsea are without Ricardo Carvalho, Joe Cole and Michael Essien, while there is also doubt over Juliano Belletti, who is unwell. Luiz Felipe Scolari must again decide over out-of-sorts striker Didier Drogba, whose recent form suggests he will be lucky to start at Anfield.
