Former Derby manager Billy Davies has revealed he would be interested in the Hearts managerial vacancy. But he would only work for Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov if he could pick his own team - after the Lithuanian has previously been accused of meddling in team affairs.

Davies is in the job market since leaving the Rams and was in the running for both the Scotland and Republic of Ireland jobs.

But he is in no rush to take a job and will bide his time until the right opportunity comes along.

The former Motherwell and Preston manager told the Daily Record: "It's crucial not to come back into the game too soon. I won't be jumping at the first offer.

"I've had one or two inquiries since December but they haven't been for me.

"I'll keep looking around until I find something that is for me.

"I'll work anywhere. I'll work abroad, I'll go back to England if something comes up or I'll stay in Scotland if there's an interesting job here."

He added: "I'm open minded and will listen to any interested parties. That's exactly what I did with the Republic of Ireland.

"They decided to go for experience so I had to accept that.

"Obviously Hearts are looking for a manager and that's something that would interest me - if I could pick my own team.

"They aren't one of the clubs who have spoken to me - that's not a bridge I've crossed.

"I'll sit back and see who's interested. People know my track record and if they want to have a chat to me I'll be perfectly willing to listen."
