Southgate: We can't be complacent

Sat 01 Mar, 01:15 PM

Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate believes West Ham's great escape last season provides enough warning not to get complacent.Victory over at home to fast-sinking Reading on Saturday would move Boro 10 points clear of the Premier League drop zone.

Apart from the returning David Wheater from suspension, Southgate expects Afonso Alves and Fabio Rochemback to recover from minor knocks and keep their places in the side. Jeremie Aliadiere sits out the second of his four-match suspension.

Southgate said: "We saw with West Ham last season that anything can happen but we're in the business of winning matches. They've lost their last eight games but they've had tough fixtures at home and away.

"I don't under-estimate them. I've known Steve for long enough he's an outstanding manager and he'll have them right for their game against us so we'll have to be bang on."
