Macclesfield Town rookie Shaun Brisley admits he has been left stunned by his rise to prominence at Moss Rose in recent weeks. The 17-year-old defender has been promoted into the first-team by new Silkmen boss Keith Alexander and he has responded in style.
The homegrown product has become a fixture in Alexander's rejuvenated side and scored twice during Saturday's 2-1 win over Accrington.
Brisley told the club's official website: "It has all happened so quickly for me. A month ago I was just one of the youth team with aspirations of making the fringes of the first team.
"The new gaffer obviously saw something in me and it has been great to be involved and hopefully repay him for the confidence he has shown in me.
"Saturday's game against Accrington just capped everything off."
