Buckley: Let's finish season on high

Tue 01 Apr, 03:45 PM

Grimsby boss Alan Buckley insists "the season is not over" for Town after failing to overcome MK Dons in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final. The Mariners lost 2-0 against Paul Ince's men, who are also vying for automatic promotion to League One.

Grimsby currently lie eight points adrift off the play-offs but, after giving his side two days off, Buckley hopes they will bounce back to finish the season on a high.

He told the Grimsby Telegraph: "We don't want the league to become a damp squib.

"We have had a fantastic run of results since November, which has taken us from second or third bottom to the fringe of the play-offs.

"The league performances have had a bit of a stutter since we got to Wembley. We have got that cleared up now so maybe we can have a really successful end to the season."
