Midfielder targets first-team run

Tue 01 Apr, 02:45 PM

Northampton midfielder Giles Coke has targeted a successful run of games in the first-team as he continues to build up his fitness. The 21-year-old was out of action for a year after picking up a serious knee injury at former club Mansfield, but scored his fourth goal in just seven starts for the Cobblers in their 1-1 draw at Cheltenham on Saturday.

He said: "I still don't think I'm as fit as I can be but obviously I'm really happy with the four goals I've scored.

"As I've said before, I think I need to get a pre-season under my belt but for now I just want to play as many games as possible before the end of the season.

"Every season you want to improve upon what you did last year and if we can't get into the play-offs we want to finish higher than 14th in the table - which is where we finished last term."
