Tony Sweeney is adamant Hartlepool can compete with the best teams in League One and is confident they will fulfil their potential next season.Pools have put in a number of good displays, without reward, against the top teams in the division in what has been a frustrating campaign at Victoria Park, but Sweeney is convinced he and his team-mates can rectify the problem next term.

"If we can match it with the best in the league then it just shows you what we could do next season and what we should have done this season," he told the Hartlepool Mail.

"We have to enhance the positives and recognise what we have done wrong."
