Fed Cup 2008 - Zvonareva, Kuznetsova to lead Russia

Vera Zvonareva and Svetlana Kuznetsova have been named to spearhead the Russia team in their Fed Cup semi-final against Italy.

Alongside world number five Zvonareva (pictured) and Kuznetsova, currently ranked eighth, skipper Shamil Tarpishchev named Nadia Petrova, Anna Chakvetadze, Alisa Kleybanova, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Ekaterina Makarova.

Holders Russia will travel to Nova Yardinia to play Italy between April 25-26.

The Czech Republic plays the United States in the other semi-final on home soil in Brno.

  15. vamos.rafa.....may be u are right. But 1. as i already­ wrote - she was playing in quarters, and if we are­ talking about top players which Lena is, they usually­ never play 2 laps en route and 2. i am not that sure as­ u are....she had disastrous 2 last WTA tours - in­ Indian Wells and recently in Miami...the way she plays­ now is far not her best level. This is my view )

  17. No Dementieva. She was playing in quarterfinals.­ Russian tennis federation usually have deals for the­ year schedule with top players about time they will­ represent Russia in Fed Cup. Lena is not gonna take­ part in semis as well as Dinara.
