West Brom striker Roman Bednar is set for a summer hernia operation after revealing he has recently been playing through the pain barrier. The Czech, 25, is on a season-long loan from Hearts but is expected to make a permanent move to The Hawthorns at the end of the campaign.
He told the Birmingham Mail: "I have played for the last three months with a hernia and I need the operation as soon as possible.
"This season I have played without getting injured. For the first time, I have started a season and been able to play through without injuries.
"I think this is my best form. I am very fit now and I think (Albion manager) Tony Mowbray is very happy with me.
"Now I need a good holiday and some rest to get myself ready for the Premier League."
