Sheffield United are expected to officially confirm Kevin Blackwell as their manager ahead of Sunday's Championship finale at Southampton.Plc chairman Kevin McCabe will make the announcement at a Bramall Lane press conference ahead of the Blades' crucial last match at St Mary's on Sunday.

Blackwell arrived as temporary replacement for former manager Bryan Robson, who left the club by mutual consent in mid-February, and held talks with McCabe over his future last weekend.

The former Leeds and Luton manager, a former assistant to ex-Blades boss Neil Warnock at Bramall Lane, has transformed the club's fortunes since his return.

The Blades were staring at a relegation fight following Robson's departure but have outside chances of clinching a play-off spot after a run of two league defeats in 13 matches.
