St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson believes Buddies revelation Andy Dorman will come back after his summer break as an even better player.Dorman, who turned 26 on Thursday, has been a major success since joining in the January transfer window from Major League Soccer outfit New England Revolution.

The attacking midfielder has scored five goals, including a stunning winner against Falkirk last weekend, and MacPherson believes with a proper holiday behind him he should improve next term.

MacPherson knows Dorman's goalscoring exploits may have put him on the radar of bigger clubs but is delighted to have him secured for the next two seasons.

MacPherson said: "Thank goodness we've got Andy tied up. He still has another couple of years to go on his contract. We've been delighted with his contribution and he can only get better.

"He hasn't had a genuine break for about 15 months but he'll get the chance to rest during the summer and then he'll be able to work on his fitness properly.

"We've yet to have an enquiry about him but there's no doubt that people will have been looking at him.

"Any midfielder scoring five goals of that quality during that period of time would make other clubs sit up and take notice. That's inevitable and it would happen if he was playing for St Mirren, Aberdeen or Dundee United.

"A player with that kind of goal ratio is going to be noticed and the chances he's had, which have all been down to the timing of his runs, could have seen him reach double figures by now."

St Mirren equalled last season's points tall with their win over Falkirk and MacPherson hopes they can beat that in their four remaining SPL games.

He said: "We've never set any targets but we got 36 points last season and we felt that was a decent return.

"We've equalled that and that's a healthy return. A lot of people will look at league position as the be all and end all but we want to try to win our remaining games.

"It's just about winning."
