Mansfield manager Paul Holland has promised 'sweeping changes' to the Stags' squad should he remain in charge at Field Mill next season. The Nottinghamshire side's 77-year stay in the Football League came to an end this week when Chester's goalless draw against Stockport confirmed their relegation.
Holland, who was placed in charge until the end of the season after Billy Dearden was sacked at the beginning of March, believes he is still the right man to lead the club ahead of next season's Blue Square Premier campaign.
"I believe I am the man to guide Mansfield back into the Football League next season," said the former Stags midfielder. "I have worked with these players all season and a lot of them haven't played to their full ability. It is time to start making sweeping changes now.
"It will be a long, hard summer. A lot of players at the club will be leaving. We have given a lot of chances to a number of players and it is time for us to give certain players a fresh start at a new club.
"Bradford released 13 players recently, and I would expect a similar number of players to be let go at Mansfield Town."
