Oji hoping to secure new contract

Thu 01 May, 03:30 PM

Former Birmingham City defender Sam Oji remains hopeful of securing a new contract at Leyton Orient before his current deal comes to an end.The centre-half joined the Os from the Premier League side in January after a successful loan spell but will be out of contract in the summer, although he hopes Saturday's clash with Bristol Rovers will not be his last.

"I'm sure the manager has already made his mind up whether he is going to give me a new contract, although at this moment in time nothing has really been discussed with me," he told the Epping Forest Guardian.

"At this stage I am not sure it would even matter if I scored a hatful of goals on Saturday, because the gaffer has probably already made his decision.

"But it is one last chance for me to show him what I can do, although I'd like to think that I've proved myself in the games that I've played in already.

"Hopefully something can be sorted out here and I can go on and have a big season at the club next year."
