Marc Tierney hailed the influence of fellow defender Colin Murdock after cleaning up at Shrewsbury's award ceremony. The former Oldham full-back scooped the Players' Player of the Year and the Supporters Player of the Year awards but poured gratitude in the direction of the 32-year-old for helping to aid his development after.
"I actually voted for Colin Murdock as I think he's been a real stalwart at the back in the 31 games he's played," he told BBC Radio Shropshire. "I voted for him for the wisdom that he's given to me this season to help me along.
"He's been there and done it, he's played at Championship level, he's played for Northern Ireland against the likes of England and he is very experienced.
"I've spent a lot of time with him this season and the pearls of wisdom he's given me have been helpful, when he's on the pitch he talks and he's taught me a lot.
"I think I've got to thank him a lot for helping me get these awards, I'm only 22 years of age but he's helped me become a lot wiser over the season."
