Swindon defender Miguel Commingesis set to join Championship outfit Cardiff after rejecting the offer of a new deal at the County Ground.
Comminges, who is out of contract at the end of the campaign, has turned down a final offer from the League One club and Robins chief executive Nick Watkins revealed he expects him to join the FA Cup finalists.
He was named Supporters Club and Disabled Supporters Group Player of the Year earlier this week and his last game for Town could now come against Millwall on Saturday.
Watkins told BBC Radio Wiltshire: "I got a call late Wednesday evening from [manager] Maurice Malpas to alert me to the fact that Miguel, after much deliberation, has decided to go to Cardiff.
"It's a great disappointment for us all to lose a player of his quality and standard, but he feels an opportunity in the Championship is too good to resist.
"He had a fabulous offer to stay, we did everything we could within our power to encourage him to stay with the club, but in the end the lure of the Championship was too great."
