A British man set a new world record by continuously keeping up a football for 24 hours at an event in London.
Dan Magness, 25, completed an estimated 250,000 touches of the ball to break the record inside a large transparent plastic cube in the piazza of Covent Garden.
Magness, of Milton Keynes, said after breaking the record: "I feel on top of the world right now. There were times during the night when I started to wonder if I could pull it off, but I managed to dig deep and keep going. I have just fulfilled a lifetime ambition and it feels great, but I'm definitely ready for my bed now."
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool defender John Scales, ambassador for PlayStation Freestylers who supported the event, said: "You can not under estimate what an unbelievable achievement this is by Dan. To have the stamina is one thing, but for him to be able to concentrate over such a long period of time is what makes this World Record such a mind-blowing feat."
Magness, who completed an intensive six-week training programme leading up to the event, added: "I really hope the record will help inspire a new generation to get involved with freestyle football."

I can do 3!! Only 249,997 to go now!
To Byzas 566, Some of us prefer to be called British, I happen to be a proud mix of English & Irish, with a substantial part of the family living in Scotland, and I was born on St. Davids day, so I guess I'm a Brit.
However what an achievement, heck I can only manage a couple of minutes at my very best, well done Dan,
There were times during the night when I started to wonder if I could pull it off, ........ but I'm definitely ready for my bed now."
What a nice bit of British humbleness and honesty a trait we are fast losing as we become so influenced by the American hype and exaggeration culture.
A message for byzas 566 "you are a Tube"
Just Unbelieveable!!!!!!! Well done Dan what an achievement. The training, mind focus and physical demands you must have gone through just show us humans can do it. Its also nice to see home grown talent showing some decent ball skills. I really hope this inspires the young guys coming up that it can be done if you put ya self to it.
And on a personal note, Its nice to see a GINGA Brother Do it!
So whats next Dan??
Tony
He is not a "British" man, he is English. If he were Welsh or Scottish then by God we'd hear about it, wouldn't we?
Come On Man.U ,2_1 to Man U
well done m8. Don't let pondlife man u 'supporter' like kingofdamead (probably from essex) hijack your achievement. Want a jpb @ the toon!?
I think Dan Magness Smashed that Record 24 hours that is 12 x 2 250,000 that is a lot I think should be on Sport Relief.
Please send the video footage to Arsene Wenger am sure he need players with his kind of passion,

Red Angel Devil (Aka) Arsenal ripper (aka) Gunners or gone (aka) Gunners can suck on (aka) betner is @#$% ...............(aka) adebayor is more @#$% (aka) van persie is a @#$%.........
well done dan- but how in 24 hours did you not eat, drink or even go to the loo!
i think it is a miracle that you did it so whatever anybody says you did it not anybody else
152: He was interviewed on Breakfast TV yesterday (BBC) just before he started and was asked the same question. Apparently he was allowed short 'comfort breaks' but I would be interested to know if they happened at fixed times of could he take one when he fancied - e.g. if he thought he was losing control!!! ;-)))
I wouldn't put his achievement up there with world peace or even completing the London Marathon but its quite a feat.
Well done, an inspiring bit of news to read instead of all the doom and gloom the media have been throwing at us lately. Congratulations Dan you are an inspiration, enjoy a weekend of celebrations :)
Well 'Ard !
send a video of it to alex furguson
WELL DONE THATS GREAT
And how in 24hrs did he not go to the toilet. or did he pee and keep the ball up???
