Bristol City and striker Enoch Showumni have both been fined for using an unlicensed agent during the player's transfer to Ashton Gate.

The club were fined £15,000 - a third of which is suspended - and Showumni £2,000 as well as being warned about their future conduct after enlisting the services of Mark Wilson in June 2006.

Bristol City chairman Steve Lansdown said: "The FA are making themselves look fools in trying to regulate agents and inevitably it's the clubs who suffer.

"We talk to the wrong person, get fined and are made to look like criminals.

"That person cannot be punished. The player involved gets fined a pittance and the agents who we paid in accordance with the FA regulations get away scot free."

The FA withdrew a second allegation against City, while Showumni - who has scored two goals in eight appearances this season for current club Leeds United - admitted a separate charge of using the same agent.
