Barnsley striker Iain Hume has begun legal proceedings against Sheffield United defender Chris Morgan.
The Canada international needed emergency surgery on the fractured skull he sustained during a challenge with Morgan in the Tykes' 2-1 defeat at Oakwell in November, where the Blades skipper appeared to elbow Hume.
Match referee Andy D'Urso only issued a yellow card at the time of the incident and despite a public outcry for action to be taken, the FA decided against further punishment for Morgan.
Barnsley owner Patrick Cryne is beginning legal action against Sheffield United to counter the club's loss, while 17 MPs have signed an Early Day Motion calling for FA action against Morgan. But Hume - who has returned to light training six months after the incident - is keen for his own personal justice for a challenge that nearly ended his career.
He told the Sheffield Star: "Things are in the pipeline at the moment, I've got my legal people doing things.
"I'm taking their advice and just waiting to see where we go next. When I'm needed I'll be there to do whatever they need me to."

Barnsley beware! Look over your shoulder, Hume. Look what happened to your miner mates cash when they encountered Barnsley lawyers! Davey bitter! Barnsley Bitter!
greeting from australia, sheffield united started this promblem suing westham.did they honestly think it would be a one off.chris morgan took him out.roll up barnsley and get your money.maybe it's westham fault because sheffield united should have been playing in the premierleague,,,,think about what you've done sheffield ,,not good..
MORGAN IS NOTHING BUT A SCUMBAG. HOPE THE BLADES LOSE ON LAST DAY AGAINST PALACE THEN GET KNOCKED OUT IN PLAY OFFS AGAIN
Has Mr Hume forgot why he was sent off when playing for Leicester City against Scunthorpe last season (where his lack of goals aided Leicester's relegation)? What is next? Eduardo suing Taylor and Birmingham, Dane Whitehouse suing Gareth Ainsworth And Port Vale? Alfe Inge Haaland suing Roy Keane And Man Utd? Mr Cryne ought to be spending more time looking for a successful replacement to Simon Davey and the 17 (out of 658) MPs, well, they thought they were signing another expense sheet.
