Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has agreed a one-year contract extension at Selhurst Park.
The 60-year-old, who had been linked with the vacant roles at QPR and Ipswich in recent weeks, has put an end to speculation surrounding his future by committing himself to the Eagles until 2011.
"There has been so much talk about other clubs and I just thought it made sense to do this now so that there is stability and things don't just blow up in everyone's face like the last few months at Charlton," he told the South London Press.
"When you look at the teams coming down from the Premier League, the sides coming up and the likes of Ipswich and QPR are all going to have masses of money and probably our best chance will be by me giving a bit of stability, which will help with getting players in.
"But the main reason for signing is the fans - it's amazing how supportive they have been. They understand the plight we're in and that I'm probably the best person to get them out of that.
"One of my mates is a Palace fan and keeps asking for me to have another year - and my kids were putting me under pressure, too, because they are loving it in London as well."

tyhank christ for that.we didnt want him!!!!!!!!
yeah its good news i think
we need the stability, but it will all depend on whether warnock gets the right players in the summer
Let it be known,it was the players fault for the blades relegation..not Neil Warnock, missing 2 pens v Blackburn for a start! He will do the right thing and pick a strong side to play the blades. unlike Alex Ferguson vWest Ham! 2 years ago
double standards warnocks a cheat and will let utd win definately.
peter .
i think it was against burnley . that was a sad day for football . i am glad the @#$%*rs gone and we now have blackwell a true sportsman ( i feel sorry for palace though as he is @#$% long ball merchant)
up the blades
I think this is good news...watch and learn all you doubters
Warnock should have been thrown out of the game when asking one of his Sheffield United players to break an opponents leg. That one act alone should have him consigned to the bin. Who was the team Sheffield were playing when he did this/ Anyone know? I forget easily these days. Old age!
Nooo :'( Why Jordan?!?!!? WHYY?!?!?!
An absolute @#$% who knows as much about football as the average terrace supporter, sorry Crystal Palace he's gonna take you down and by the way how many people think he has the face you want to slap.
The worst news any Palace supporter could have is Warnock agreeing to stay another year. And all football fans and refs will now have to put up with his inane whinging and moaning until mid-2011. If anyone agrees hit the thumbs up button below!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jorden Your a Joke, you have seen the @#$% this man has dished up
You are only capable of beating a reserve side!. I dont think a true United supporter wants any favours on Sunday ,its only right to go up on merit. Besides how can Sheffield complain about the West Hham affair last year and then the following year support unfair and unsporting behaviour this year...double standards again from yorkshire planks.
WHY....Oh Why.....Palace used to be a good club and they have sunk to the depths of having Warnock as the manager. He will take you down next year..he no longer understands the improvements made in Championship football.Playing a long ball with lots of thugs chasing it is no longer acceptable.Come on Palace you can do better than him.
good old warnock !
and big thanx to him putting out the reserve side on sunday against the mighty blades !
premiership here we come
He's obviously just playing the waiting game signing this new contract, until his pay out from West Ham comes through.
