Port Vale have revealed manager Dean Glover will take charge of his last game for the club against Barnet on Saturday.

The 45-year-old was promoted from assistant back in October following the sacking of Lee Sinnott, and he was trusted with the position until the end of the current campaign with the aim of keeping the club in the Football League.

Glover succeeded in that mission but his seven months in charge have not been an easy ride, with several protests being staged in light of some poor performances, and the club's board were left with no choice but to relieve him of his duties following the clash at Underhill.

The former Vale defender is, however, not expected to part ways with the club entirely and has been offered a two-year deal with Vale's youth team.

Chairman Bill Bratt told The Sentinel: "Port Vale are in the process of looking for a new manager. The club have honoured an agreement with Dean Glover that he would be the manager until the end of the current campaign, and he will be in charge of our final game at Barnet.

"Dean has been offered another role at the club in which he would work alongside Mark Grew with the youth team.

"We would like to thank Dean for taking the helm. But this is a results game and the results have not gone as well as everybody would have liked.

"We hope to appoint a new manager by the end of May."

Vale will start the process of searching for a new manager in the coming days, with current assistant Keith Downing and former Cheltenham boss John Ward the early frontrunners.
