Moyes blasts FA over Cup tickets

Fri 01 May, 04:46 PM

Everton manager David Moyes has attacked the Football Association for being "disrespectful" and "hypocritical" in their allocation of FA Cup final tickets.

Both the Toffees and Chelsea have been given about 25,000 tickets each for the showpiece event at the 90,000-capacity venue on May 30.

Moyes said that was woefully inadequate considering the huge demand on Merseyside with Everton in their first final since 1995.

"We get 25,000, Chelsea get 25,000 and I think the FA get 40,000," he said.

"Something is not right when 40,000 tickets have gone to corporate people.

"I understand these people are the ones putting some money into it and probably helped build Wembley in the first place but it's not right for the average punter."

  1. its the same at every cup final the two teams have always only got about 25.000 tickets ,so get on with it,the fans who go to cup finals are season ticket holders, the ones who should go who pay up front before the start of a season.

  2. Fully agree with what Moyes is saying but how many of his free tickets will he give to fans, not many I'll bet, they will go to friends and family who haven't been to a game all season.

  3. #7 has it right, buy NOTHING at the stadium, take your own water & eat outside before the game & head for the pub after. Good luck to all who go.

  5. i feel sorry for the fans of everton who travel to nearly every game but unfortunately might not get a ticket for this game that could make history for the club. good luck to everyone who tries to get a ticket i hope you get them as you are obviousley very loyal to your team

  6. Same as always...where were those 'suits' when it was 1st round qualifying day way back last year? Each team should get at least their average home gate attendance or limit it to say 40,000 each?? For once I agree with Moyes

  7. its easy boycott souveniers, programmes, pies, beer.......... everything, they're all overpriced, they will soon realise that the working man has the power to put these suits in the minority, as the revenue generated by proper supporters on match days probably subsidises their tickets. the "FA Family" consists of referees.secretarys, league officials etc. the vast majority of whom get some kind of remuneration (match fees, expenses) of some sorts anyway, so why should they have free tickets. Nine times out of ten they go to genuine fans at vastly inflated prices anyway. Until match going fans stand together and boycott all merchandise vending etc.at allo grounds we will get nowhere, wear your old shirt, fill your stomach before you get to the ground, drink more beer outside the ground, keep your money under lock and key whilst in the ground.......... boycott and be counted its the future

  8. I feel very sorry for the real fans and agree with the Comments so far. But in the end if the fans feel really bad enough about this, they should say stuff your football cup final, we are getting short changed therefor sell all the 90,000 tickets to outsiders and boycotte the games then something will be done, but as allways you will not all stand together, therefor THEY allways win.

  9. should it not be that the teams average home gate for the season should determine the number of tickets the club gets. kspred

  10. Typical FA's the world over. The biggest (domestic) day of the year and its always for the suits! In my home of Australia its often believed semi-final day is the punters 'grand final'. I cant stand these administrators holding us supporters over a barrel when it comes to 'our' finals. The tickets triple in price and so does the food and pre-game program. I cant wait for the day when a billionaire takes over something themselves and can still relate to the fans. I know we all need to make profits and you will with more punters being able to purchase tickets to see there hereos, as aposed to the 10's of thousands of tickets given away to corporate back slappers.
I bet they won't be buying any scarfs or bags!

  12. Reflects everything that's wrong with sport and the world in general... the men in suits get the first say on issues they either don't understand or don't care about. Both teams should get at least 35-40,000 each - or what is the point? Employees of the FA should not outweigh the fans, or even get close to doing so - I wonder how many of those are free tickets.... and if a large percentage of them are, then the debt associated with building the Stadium will linger even longer than necessary.
