Int. Friendlies - Alan Smith and Ledley King are expected to be handed shock starting roles for England against Brazil as Steve McClaren prepares his side for Wednesday's trip to Estonia.

Although he has been employing a 4-5-1 formation in training, McClaren will draft Manchester United man Smith in to partner Michael Owen up front.

It is a surprising move considering the two strikers have scored just once between them in the last 17 months, with both players suffering from long-term injuries.

Further eyebrows are sure to be raised if, as expected, Ledley King starts in the centre of defence despite his recent lack of domestic action with Tottenham.

With John Terry also playing in the middle, Jamie Carragher will be moved to the right despite his exceptional form at centre-back for Liverpool.

A more logical selection would be to play Carragher alongside Terry and bring either Philip Neville or Wes Brown in at right-back.

However, it appears McClaren is concerned that a Terry-Carragher axis may not have sufficient pace to deal with striker Andres Oper, Estonia's best player.

Nicky Shorey makes his debut at left-back, while the midfield takes on a comfortingly old-fashioned look, with Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and David Beckham.

Kaka and Ronaldinho will both start for Brazil as coach Dunga employs a 4-2-2-2 formation. The star pairing will play just behind striker Robinho and Vagner Love.

Edmilson and Gilberto Silva provide strength in defensive midfield roles, while the back four will consist Gilberto, Juan, Naldo and Daniel Alves.
