Premiership - PSV Eindhoven centre back Carlos Salcido has set his sights on a move to the Premiership.

The 27-year-old Mexico international has won the Dutch championship and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League in an impressive first season in European football, though is keen to push on and make his mark in one of Europe's top leagues.

"I like the English league but I want to go to a big club and be the best in my position," he said.

"There aren't too many Mexicans playing in Europe at the moment, but the ones that are there have done well, and maybe that could persuade other teams to look at Mexican players.

"Mexicans aren't always taken into consideration because we are a little unknown. We have the quality to play in Europe but need the opportunity. In England I know that I can do well, but it has to be in a team that gives me the chance to play."

Both Chelsea and Arsenal were linked with moves for Salcido last summer, and with the Blues looking to bolster their central defence, a bid could be in the offing.
