Notts County defender Paul Mayo has admitted he has failed to live up to expectations since arriving at Meadow Lane last summer. The left-back racked up 31 appearances in his first campaign with the Magpies following a move from Lincoln.
"It has been a difficult season and I have been disappointed in myself to be honest," he said.
"I started the season reasonably well, and then came a spell where I was in and out the team.
"Then I went out on loan to Darlington, came back and played a few games and felt I did okay.
"I've never reached the heights of my performance I have displayed in the past and that is something I want to achieve next season with Notts County."
