Swedes humbled in final warm-up

Sun 01 Jun, 06:45 PM

Sweden lost 1-0 to Ukraine in their final warm-up match before Euro 2008 on Sunday, with Sergei Nazareneko netting the only goal of the game. The match in Stockholm was level late on until Ukraine - who failed to make it to Austria and Switzerland - claimed the victory.

The goal came from Nazareneko as he picked up the ball on the edge of the box before sending a dipping shot past Rami Shaaban.

Former Arsenal keeper Shaaban, who is Sweden's number two, replaced Andreas Isaksson at half-time but he failed to keep a clean-sheet.

The defeat could and should have been more with Yevgeny Selenzney firing just wide of the post when clean through.

Sweden now travel to their Euro 2008 base in Lugano, to prepare for their opening match against defending champions Greece in Salzburg on June 10.
