Barcelona forward Giovani Dos Santos is close to moving to Tottenham according to his father and agent, although Lazio striker Goran Pandev has dismissed reports that he will switch to White Hart Lane.
The 19-year-old Mexico international Giovani could join Juande Ramos's charges as early as Monday according to Sport after Barca accepted a £6.2million bid which may rise to £8.6 million.
Dos Santos's father, Zizinho, admitted that his son is proud and excited by the thought of moving to such a prestigious club as he told Mexican daily paper, Record, that a deal was in the offing.
"Nothing has been finalised," he said. "But it is an honour that a club as important as Tottenham want to sign Giovani, but nothing can be said officially yet.
"The ambitious project that Tottenham have has excited Giovani and he just wants to go there and help the team in any way he can.
"It is obvious that leaving Barcelona is a risky decision, but with his qualities it appears that it could be the best option for him."
Macedonia striker Pandev, meanwhile, looks set to remain with Lazio despite claiming interest from Spurs.
"It is true Tottenham want me, but I intend to stay at Lazio," the 24-year-old told Macedonia newspaper Vest.
So far this summer a deal for Luka Modric has been completed, while John Bostock has agreed to sign from Crystal Palace.
A move for Manchester City defender Richard Dunne appears to have collapsed after FA Cup winners Portsmouth hijacked the move, although Diego Capel is rumoured to be set to join the North London club.
Modric revealed the role chairman Daniel Levy had in persuading him to sign from Dinamo Zagreb.
"I heard them [Dinamo officials] say the chairman was there and that everything was decided," he said.
"I couldn't speak, I was in a state of shock.
"I didn't expect it to happen just like that but of course I was more than happy and replied that I accepted it.
"I could hardly sleep the night before meeting the chairman and was very excited about flying to London with him. With that act the chairman has shown how much he wanted to please his coach."
