Italy striker Fabio Quagliarella has signed for Napoli from Udinese on a five-year deal.

The speedy 26-year-old has returned to his home town despite interest from Serie A champions Inter Milan, whose coach Jose Mourinho recently praised Quagliarella's attitude.

Media reports said Juventus were also tracking the player.

A statement on Napoli's website gave no financial details of the deal.

Quagliarella has scored 41 goals in 146 Serie A appearances for Torino, Ascoli, Sampdoria and Udinese while he has 12 Italy caps and has netted three international goals.

Udinese and Napoli were both flying high in the early weeks of the season but their form dipped around the same time and they both finished outside the European places.

Quagliarella rejoins Napoli coach and former Italy boss Roberto Donadoni, who gave the forward his Azzurri debut and took him to Euro 2008.

  3. Lavezzi is similar to Sergio Aguero...probably better...imagine having Quagliarella and Lavezzi in the same team...they will probably end up as the best striking pair in Euro...Qualigliarella will win the Golden Boot with Lavezzi a close second (10 goals behind)

  4. lol, yeah, Napoli will certainly get the best out of Quagliarella but isn't anybody else wondering how they can afford to keep hold of Lavezzi? Lavezzi and Quagliarella would be powerful but you'll see the former through the exit door pretty soon.
