A 2-0 defeat to Lyon on Sunday evening confirmed Monaco's relegation to Ligue 2 and the Champions League finalists of 2004 are now expected to lose some of their best players.

Park is prime amongst them as the South Korea international scored 11 of the club's 36 league goals this season and recently attracted interest from Bolton Wanderers.

Now the 25-year-old has made clear his ambition to leave Monaco and play at a higher level.

"I would like to have new challenge in a stronger team capable of competing in bigger Europe-wide tournaments like the Champions League," he told the Chosun Ilbo.

It is reported that the forward, who has two years remaining on his contract, will cost in the region of €6 million (£5.3 million).

  1. I think Udinese and Borussia Dortmund are the perfect clubs for he for the next season... and over the next season he can go to... Benfica, CSKA Mosca (or Moscow, i dunno, i'm italian) or... Shaktar Donetsk; I Think Shaktar is the best second-tier club in Europe.
