Sir Alex Ferguson has issued a video message to Manchester United season ticket holders restating the club's desire to regain their Premier League title - but warning of further last-gasp drama in the years to come.
After so many famous final-day successes, this season the boot was on the other foot. When United concluded their final game at Sunderland, they were technically champions, only to be flattened by Sergio Aguero's late strike at the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City struck twice in stoppage time to end their 44-year wait for the championship.
However, now the dust has settled, Ferguson feels it is just another chapter in United's compelling story - a point he has made to keep fans within the Red Devils' season ticket fold. "When you look back on last season, it tells you the story of Manchester United," he said. "There is no club in the world who can create the drama that we created last year."
He went on to say: "Okay, it didn't work out our way this time but when you go back through the years and the number of times we have scored last minute goals it just added to the excitement and drama of Manchester United.
"It will always be there because that is the kind of club we are.
"When you are buying your season ticket you are guaranteed: 1) A possible heart attack. 2) Incredible excitement in the last minute of games. 3) Hope that we win the championship back."
United have missed out on one transfer target already this summer after Eden Hazard snubbed the lure of Old Trafford and elected to join Chelsea.
However, the Red Devils are hoping to secure the services of Borussia Dortmund's Japanese midfielder Shinji Kagawa, with officials from the German champions confirming talks are at an advanced stage.

what we need in our team is a holding player.. yes scholes is good and so is Shinji Kagawa but they are both more attacking mids. we need someone to stop the play going into our half. Fergy needs to take a good think at what he does fot the rest of the transfer window, it could turn out very costly in the long run!!
We neeed Arturo Vidal and Gonzalo Higuain
Uncle Malcolm the Chimp seems to make a lot of noise, empty drums and all that, and never anything sensible to say.
they have even been advertising on local radio for season ticket applicants ahahahahhaah promising this and that yeah yeah yeah old man, you must think everyone is as thick as rooney, aaaaaaaaaw please stay, theres loads of big signings coming aka jones and young lol.
HAHHAHAHAAH please please please buy a season ticket, furgie issues rallying call lol more like furgie issues begging letter , since when have yooonited had to plead for ticket customers , specially with 10% of the world wanting tickets .
nani go. the faster the better. He is just such a greedy player & never knew when to pass the ball. We have Valencia who is so much better and more accurate when passing. I agree Manu needs at least 2 more solid defenders. Rio, Evra Vidic are pass their prime. Evens looks more like a ballet dancer than a defender. Time to give the youngsters like Progba, Evans, Cleverly & the rest some more games. Giggs & Schosy are already squeezed bone dry they can't give antmore & can't last another season, Park, Carrick are going to be past their prime. Anderson not up to the mark. I would sell these players quick if there are any offers before they become baggages that are not marketable. Go for Neymar. Splash big. The Chinese says small money don't go then big money won't come. The Chinese are much wiser than the Glazers.
No 18 Goodbye to Nani if he continues to try and make out he is the best when he isn't. Keeps the ball too much to himself, can't pass properly, and these days takes ages to score. So much for player moral when Rooney is always having to kick his feet into the turf because that idiot thought he could pass several players without passing and as always, ends up losing the ball. How long has he been at the club and still not learnt a thing.
All the above comments are very good. Well Done. I concur fully with the statements that United have a problem in the midfield. Giggs,Nani,Darren,Park,Anderson and co are past their sell buy date. The Glazers and SAF must wake up to this reality and go out and shop for quality midfielders and these are available in Holland, Germany, Spain and France. United also need to replace the fast ageing Rio, useless Evans etc with quality defenders from those countries. If they do not do something this summer, that huge fan base will start shrinking. Come on SAF, buy, buy, buy. Please buy quality players. What are you waiting for? We need new quality players. Wake up! Plaese wake up! Now. Glory! Glory! Glory! UNITED FOREVER.
I agree with everything said by the commentator at 13. I too am a life-long supporter of United and the first game I saw at Old Trafford was a 1.1 draw against Aston Villa in the 1956-1957 season. I was nine at the time and between 1963 to 1991, I missed less than ten games at Old Trafford and went to at least half of the away league matches season after season during that period. I have witnessed the emergence of some great teams packed full of quality players who were also team players and it pains me to say that the present squad is probably the worst I have seen when it comes to all round technical skills. SAF and the Glazers must do something immediately to put the house in order and it MUST BE DONE NOW!
And if we really are talking about our midfielders contributing to the teams goal tally as mentioned in a few of the earlier comments, we have to be critical of the fading Mr Giggs. His average goal tally for the last twelve years is no more than 4/5 in a season and only once in that period has he got into double figures. If you don't believe me, Google it. Facts are facts and must be applied even to the once great player he was. I am afraid that he should no longer be a part of the first team squad.
Hahahahaha. They keep consoling themselves saying:city didn't win d league, man utd lost it. Lol. Some people are so funny. And for those of u dat keep boring us wit this statement answer this question. 1. Where is d 2011/2012 epl trophy at d moment? The answer is what matters now. Besides, city gave utd opportunity to come close to d title so that they lose it when they tot they'v won it& sorry, dats so painful. Otherwise city wud'v won d title even before march.
@25..LMFAO@you...You mean like loserpool has done with all your "DEAD WOOD" in your team?????? Of hiring KD as the savior of the Loserpool universe??????????????..Ohh wait..what's that? "It will be Loserpools YEAR this year"???? You talk so much rubbish I often wonder if your stupidity is genetic of you have studied for years to be so thick!
Ferg16 the captain of the next sinking ship.I pray he stays there for long so that they can go downward forever.
Scholes Giggs and the rest of the midfield are quality against the Bread and butter teams ,but against quality opposition at home and in Europe they have been exposed badly ,and if his goals are to be the best in Europe then he will add world class players ,if not ,he is just hoping he can win the league with a few reasonably priced average players added to his squad .Not very ambitious for the so called biggest team in the world .
nobody will compete for years to come with man city and their money. get used to it man utd because its happening right now best players want best money . until the rich arabs have had enough bye bye , man city wins
Fergie may have brought great success to United but he is also responsible for the predicament we find ourselves in under the Glazers. Personal greed over the Rock and the subsequent peeing off of the Coolmore mafia is why we find ourselves where we are now, which I might add without the stewardship of David Gill would be a lot worse than it is. One thing Sir Matt always did was put United before himself, I think for to long now Fergie has thought of himself before United.
The biggest problem is the lack of goals from midfield. We rely too much on Rooney and if he is having an off day we cannot rely on the midfielders to get the goals.Just look at the stats.Carrick for instance averages 2 or 3 goals a season.
they won the league man c yet 6/7 players want to leave cos they are not getting enough games. says it all. i still say it will be back to normal next year with the reds fighting it out with arsenal with man c not getting in the top 3.and goodbye nani hopefuuly.
For a midfield that isn't good enough, it's amazing that they scored the same number of points as the team that won the title, and lost it with the last kick of the season. The team that won it have a midfield considered second best in Europe after Barcelona, so United's midfield can't be that bad can it?
1. Chelsea - FA cup and Champions league trophy 2. Man city - Premier league trophy 3. Liverpool - Carling cup 4. Man u - Yawnnnnnnnnnn
