Scotland striker Ross McCormack has signed a new four-year deal with Cardiff just 12 months after arriving in the Welsh capital.

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Cardiff City Stadium this summer after the club missed out on a play-off place in heartbreaking fashion back in May.

But the news of his signature should stave off any interest from rival suitors and will come as music to the ears of manager Dave Jones and chairman Peter Ridsdale after losing centre-back Roger Johnson to Birmingham and with Joe Ledley heavily tipped to follow him out of the door.

McCormack scored 23 goals for the Bluebirds in all competitions last season following his move from Motherwell.

The marksman told Cardiff`s official website: "I`m really pleased to have sorted things out. I enjoyed last season and, like the other lads, I want the opportunity to go one step further this year."

  1. Roger Johnson is going nowhere, watch this space, I believe he has failed his medical at Birmingham.
