Ferrari rubbish Alonso speculation

Eurosport - Wed, 01 Jul 17:03:00 2009

Ferrari has rubbished speculation that Fernando Alonso is to be unveiled as one of the Scuderia's two drivers for 2010 on the Friday of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, despite reports that the team's annual end-of-season spectacular is to be held in Spain.

Spanish newspaper Diario AS has reported that the double F1 World Champion is to be announced as part of the Maranello-based outfit's challenge until at least 2014 on 11 September, though which of the two present incumbents - 2008 championship runner-up Felipe Massa and 2007 title-winner Kimi Raikkonen - would make way for the man from Oviedo remains unclear.

The likelier candidate is Raikkonen: both he and Massa remain under contract until the end of 2010, but the Finn's commitment and long-term future in the sport has been brought in to question by his recent forays into rallying and decision to drive in the World Rally Championship's Rally Finland in July.

It has also been claimed that Ferrari's traditional 'World Finals' will for the first time be held in Alonso's homeland, in Valencia in mid-November, where both the Asturian and new sponsor Santander will be officially welcomed into the fold. It is believed that the 21-time grand prix-winner will be the event's surprise guest'

The widely-held view within the grand prix paddock is that Alonso will indeed be sporting scarlet overalls next year, and the man himself, currently struggling midfield in an uncompetitive Renault for the second consecutive campaign, has done little to contradict that.

But Ferrari spokesman Luca Colajanni is adamant that the talk is just idle speculation.

"We are not going to waste our time commenting on speculation," he told Italian newspaper La Gazzzetta dello Sport. "Everyone should remember that Massa and Raikkonen have contracts which include 2010."

Senna will not go to Ferrari either Senna will be lucky to get a drive in John Booth's Yorkshire Values Pudding, Ferrari can have any driver they want for $50,000,000 (fifty million) a year and Vettel and Kubica are right at the top of the list.

Alonso and Raikoennen are only driving to top up their pension funds.

BUT VETTEL GOING TO DRIVE FOR THE FIA DICTATOR, ONLY IF MR NEWEY DOES GET DRAFTED INTO THE MARFIA LINE UP. BUT IF NOT I'LL SAT VETTEL WILL STAY WITH RED BULL, LOOK AT RED BULL NOW, A TEAM THAT IS FINALLY GOING PLACES AND PROVIDING RENAULT WITH WINS AS AN ENGINE SUPPLIER, WHAT AN EMBASSAMENT FOR THE FACTORY TEAM, WITH THAT TEAM GOING NO WHERE, ONLY OUT THE F1 BACK DOOR. VETTEL WILL CHALLENGE BUTTON FOR THE TITLE THIS YEAR, WITH THIS YEAR NO WAY OVER GRAB ONTO YOUR SEATS MY LITTLE F1 BUDDIES, THIS IS GOING TO BE THE BEST BATTLE SO FAR.

  11. Felipe will stay, Kimi will see out his contract then to the end of this year then possibly go to WRC or retire fr good. Vettel wont go and I don't understand why everyone thinks Kubica will go to Ferrari, he just wont. I think that next year the line up will be:
    First driver, Felipe Massa
Second driver, between Mirko Bortolotti (Italian F2 driver who tested the F2008 last year), Bruno Senna or Jaime Alguersauri (although I think he might be at Red Bull or STR next year), I could even see Rosberg going there.

Look at it this way ralph c
Kimi is busy rallying and they need Alonso
if maclaren get there car sorted in 2010 and brawn are still strong
Ferrari are lost thats for sure
but with Alonso at the wheel of a Ferrari
The English press and ITV & BBC comentaters that seem to ignore Alonso
will be crying because in truth, they know that Hamilton or Button wont stand a chance against the Shcumacer crusher Alonso
it will be the pairing many in the paddock fear most
remember he crushed Maclaren in 2005 Ferrari in 2006 and nearly won it again in 2007
and thats without a team only a car and mechanics
Lewis had the Whole Mercedes Maclaren team behind him
Ron denis in 2007 China said we are racing not only the ferraris but Alonso too
I thought he was a Maclaren driver
well that sums it all up for me
PS Alonso is a better driver than Kubica or vettel
if you cant see that your a moron

Ferrari is showing itself to be little better than Renault so Alonso may as well give up on the idea that he will get his pension paid by Ferrari.

If Railoennen and or Massa go Ferrari will secure Vettel and Kubica in that order when they are ready.

Alonso will not be on the Ferrari shopping list now or ever.
