Rookie Shrewsbury winger Jake Simpson insists his father and manager Paul Simpson will not do him any special favours this season.

The youngster has been handed a one-year contract following his release from Blackburn and is determined to establish himself with the Shrews.

He told the club`s official website: "It's been a good move for me since getting the bad news at the end of last season that Blackburn weren't keeping me on.

"The gaffer is very professional and has said that he won't bring anything home or anything from home into the club.

"I'm moving out of home to become more independent and to grow up a little bit more. He's never been the one to give me too much praise so I guess that will remain the same.

"I know that I've got to work hard as much as the other lads and if I do that then I'm sure I'll get a chance."
