Five released by Pompey

Wed 01 Jul, 03:13 PM

Portsmouth have confirmed the release of Noe Pamarot, Lauren, Glen Little, Djimi Traore and Jerome Thomas - but are weighing up a new deal for out-of-contract captain Sol Campbell.

Former Arsenal and England defender Campbell and Nigerian striker Kanu have both come to the end of their current deals. However, Pompey executive chairman Peter Storrie revealed talks with the duo could take place to extend their stays.

"There are not any discussions going on with Sol at the moment. In terms of whether there will be further discussions, we will look at it next week," Storrie told the club's official website, www.portsmouthfc.co.uk.

He added: "Kanu has the option of another year, which he is considering."

Although veteran defender Hermann Hreidarsson, 34, has agreed a new one-year contract at Fratton Park, Bolton have completed the signing of Sean Davis on a free transfer - six months after Portsmouth rejected a £3.5million bid for the midfielder.

Pompey have yet to confirm a permanent management team for next season, after Paul Hart and Brian Kidd took charge over the closing months of the season following Tony Adams' dismissal.

  1. I agree matey. What the @@@@ is going on down there? Does Mr 'Story' still get paid £1.5m or whatever a year even when he is blindly taking us into relegation and possibly administration. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, SORT IT OUT. 14 months ago FA CUP, 8th place (could have been a lot better if we had kept on trying once we had got to the final), Europe, new ground. What do we have now? No manager, no players, no owner, no chance!!

  3. What the hell is going on down at Fratton Park? New contracts for two dinosaurs and five younger players just let go and with no real news of any replacements. I hope the people in charge know something us Pompey fans don't because at the moment all i see is Premiership suicide. Looks like its going to be another season of relegation battle unless something happens and something big.
