Reading manager Brendan Rodgers has labelled the recent £6.5million departure of Kevin Doyle to Wolves as part of the club`s "evolution".
And with the Republic of Ireland striker gone, the new Royals boss is already on the look-out for an adequate replacement.
"He will go down as one of the best signings in the club`s history, if not they very best - but I also like that he has the outlook of a top, top player," Rodgers told the club`s official website.
"But I always repeat, no player or manager is bigger than the club. Him going is part of our evolution.
"And now we`re looking at a number of new players. Losing 18 goals in Kevin means that he needs to be replaced.
"I will look to bring someone in with the same effectiveness in terms of goals and assists so we can be as competitive next year."

Nobody in the Premiership will want Hunt, he hasn't got Premiership mentality, he is to much of a liability, he jumps in with two feet too many times. He will be lucky if any of the Premiership will make a bid for him. Noel Hunt is a better proposition than Steven Hunt. Reading can do with out him, they have other players that are as good. They can keep Shane Long, he will come good. Lets hope they can get a player that is better than Doyle, although he will be hard to replace.
HEADLINE.....ROYALS FACE RELEGATION BATTLE...no striker, no goalkeeper, no hope, back to the bad old days under numpty ginger rogers
one down now let hunt go numpty post numpty story doyle and hunt did a great job for reading now they want out you turn on them, unlike your new manager who did not do a great job and now thinks he nows football inside out good luck you both deserve each other
one down now let hunt go we can then move on lets bring in players who are not bigger than the club
There goes Tommy Smith just hope we get good money for him.
