St Johnstone have made a move for Dundee United left-back Danny Grainger.

The 22-year-old signed from Gretna 18 months ago but the subsequent arrival of Paul Dixon from Dundee has limited his first-team opportunities.

"We have had a phone call from St Johnstone about Danny Grainger," United boss Craig Levein told the Evening Telegraph.

"At this stage, it is only an enquiry and there has been no bid, so there is nothing more to say."
