The 18-year-old was diagnosed with the illness after her quarter final loss to Ana Ivanovic at Wimbledon but a check-up on Monday cleared the world number 10 to return to training.

"Nicole is all right and we will start with light training," her step father and coach, Ales Kodat, told Sport.

It is yet to be decided whether Vaidisova, who reached the semi finals at the Australian Open earlier in the year as well as the quarter finals of both the French Open and Wimbledon, will make her return to competitive action in Toronto or two weeks later at the US Open.

"We will decide according to how Nicole will be feeling," Kodat added.
