Dean Marney is hoping to get a chance to stake his claim for a place in Hull's starting XI for the Premier League opener against Fulham.Marney was left out of the side which drew 1-1 at Oldham in midweek but is now eying a return in Sunday's friendly at Hearts.

He told the club's official website: "Hopefully I'll be playing but we'll just have to wait and see what team, the gaffer selects.

"I'm looking forward to the game and I know a good performance can help to cement a thought in the gaffer's mind that come August 16 I can play.

"I was disappointed to be on the bench at Oldham because all I want to do is play.

"With the season getting closer and closer you want to play as many games as you can to try and cement your place for the first game of the season."
