QPR have completed the protracted signing of Latvian defender Kaspars Gorkss from Blackpool for an undisclosed fee, reportedly £250,000.The 26-year-old centre-back, who played the second half of the Rs' 1-0 pre-season friendly win over Kilmarnock on Tuesday, has penned a three-year deal at Loftus Road.

Boss Iain Dowie was delighted to finally get his man, beating a host of Championship clubs to his signature.

"Kaspars knows we intend to play good, attractive football, and he wants to be a part of it," Dowie told the club's official website.

"We've signed an international defender who has a great physical presence, good pace and is comfortable on the ball. He's an ambitious lad who wants to take his game forward."

Gorkss, who has won 17 caps for his country, had a £250,000 buy-out clause in his Seasiders contract.

Striker Daniel Nardiello has moved in the opposite direction, signing a two-year deal with the Seasiders, while Zesh Rehman has also made the switch to Bloomfield Road on an initial six-month loan with an option to make the deal permanent.
