Walsall have completed their second signing in a day by snapping up former Germany winger Marco Reich on a free transfer. The 30-year-old, who won one German cap in a friendly against Colombia in 1999, will turn out for the Saddlers in the pre-season friendly against Port Vale on Saturday.
Walsall manager Jimmy Mullen told the club website: "Marco is a vastly experienced player. He can play on either flank or in the centre of midfield, so he gives us plenty of options. He'll also give us a bit extra going forward as he's an attack-minded player.
"We had him here for a week at the start of pre-season where he showed us what a good footballer he is. The experience that he has from playing in the top flight in Germany, and from his time at both Derby and Crystal Palace, will stand us in good stead and can only help those youngsters around him."
Reich was a Bundesliga Championship winner with his first club Kaiserslautern in 1998 before spells at Koln and Werder Bremen, then in England with Derby County for the 2004-05 season and Crystal Palace for 18 months.
He returned to his homeland and Kickers Offenbach of the German second division in January 2007, though he was released this summer after their relegation to the German third division.
