Super League-bound duo Michael Crocker and Danny Buderus have both been included in Australia's preliminary squad for this autumn's World Cup.
Kangaroos coach Ricky Stuart had previously indicated he would overlook both Melbourne second row Crocker and Newcastle hooker Buderus, who are joining Leeds and Hull respectively next year.
Yet both are named in a provisional 46-man group along with experienced names such as Darren Lockyer, Petero Civoniceva, Cam Smith and Steve Price.
There is no place for Mark Gasnier, the St George-Illawarra centre who has been the face of the tournament but will quit the sport for a rugby union contract with Stade Francais later this year.
Exciting talents Billy Slater, Greg Inglis and Israel Folau are also among 10 representatives from Melbourne, the current NRL champions, while 11 uncapped players are included.
Wigan star Trent Barrett, who will join Cronulla next year, is overlooked.
