AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi insists Andrea Pirlo is not on the verge of signing for Chelsea.

The Italy midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea ever since the arrival of former Rossoneri coach Carlo Ancelotti to the London club.

Reports suggest Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani, who is also said to be preparing a bid to buy the Serie A club, is in London to discuss the deal.

However, Berlusconi insists neither story has any basis to it.

"They are all stories, there's no truth at all," he said.

"I don't know anything, I haven't talked to Galliani: I also learnt this from journalists and I was surprised."
