Thistle brush past Berwick
Partick eased through to the second round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup with a comfortable 5-1 victory over Berwick.
The home side broke the deadlock after 29 minutes when Bryan Hodge scored with a first-time effort from the edge of the area.
Four minutes after the interval Liam Buchanan collected a pass from Chris Erskine and let fly from 23 yards with the ball flying into the top corner of the goal, giving Mark Peat in the Berwick goal no chance.
Erskine got a goal himself four minutes later, slotting into an empty net from six yards to put Thistle three up after Peat could only parry Stephen McKeown's shot.
With 69 minutes on the clock Berwick pulled one back when substitute Ian Little chipped the ball into the home goal, however there was to be no comeback from Berwick and Buchanan wrapped-up Thistle's win scoring from the penalty spot 10 minutes from the end before Erskine made it five with three minutes remaining.
