Fulham and Portsmouth were among the busy clubs on a frantic final day of the transfer window. Find below all the details of the deals as they happened.
00.00 - THE WINDOW IS SHUT - there maybe be some more last minute deals to be revealed but the window is finally closed. Abdoulaye Faye to Newcastle and Steven Naismith to Rangers are two late ones that may or may not have gone through. Time for those tabloid hacks who make up all those rumors to go on holiday now I suppose and for us to go to bed! It was a fun day.
11.45 - As Europe's seminal 1980's rock anthem "The Final Countdown" rings loud in my brain we have a couple of more late deals to tell you about. Noberto Solano has completed a move to West Ham from Newcastle on a free transfer, while Danny Murphy has joined Fulham on a one-year deal from Spurs. Most clubs have called it a night at this stage, mainly because Fulham have signed every player on the market, but expect Newcastle to announce something soon now that Solano is gone.
11.33 - A bit of swap shop action going on - Seol Ki-Hyeon is confirmed as a Fulham player - signing a two-year deal, with Liam Rosenior going to Reading in the opposite direction. No money exchanges hands, just a good old fashioned piece of bartering.
11.27pm - We can finally stick a fork in the Gary O'Neil deal - it is done - he is a Middlesbrough player. Gareth Southgate has confirmed that his has signed the Portsmouth player and is now off to bed!
11.11pm - BIG SPL NEWS BREAKING - Kilmarnock have just got in touch with Rangers saying that they have accepted their most recent bid (believed to be about £1.5 million) for Steven Naismith. The striker is now said to be racing to Ibrox to try and complete the move.
11.08pm - Into the last hour now - some deals that could yet go through. Noberto Solano Newcastle to West Ham, Abdoulaye Faye Bolton to Newcastle, Danny Murphy Tottenham to Fulham, Liam Rosenior Fulham to Reading, and we are still waiting for 100% confirmation of Gary O'Neil going to Middlesbrough although that should be a done deal.
11.00pm - Dundee United show there are no hard feelings with former boss Craig Brewster, they agree to release David Proctor and allow him to sign for Brewster's Inverness Caley Thistle. Now isn't that nice of them?
10.50pm - Holy dangerous celebrations! Shefti Kuqi will be banging his sternum on the Craven Cottage turf for the rest of the year after completing a loan move from Crystal Palace to Fulham.
10.40pm - More European fun: PSV's Arouna Kone goes to UEFA Cup champions for £8.1 million.
10.35pm - Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie has said he is sorry to see Gary O'Neill go, indicating that a deal has been done despite complications with his medical.
10.30pm - It's all go now! Paul Dickov has done one over to Crystal Palace, at least on loan until December.
10.25pm - Check no one is looking, and then jack up on this quick fix of European transfer news: Atletico Madrid's Peter Luccin, who was a target for Birmingham, has joined Real Zarqagoza, while Shabani Nonda, who had spent last term on loan at Blackburn, has joined Galatasary for £1 million. Now find a nice corner to lie in.
10.10pm - It seems that Nicky Shorey will not be going anywhere soon, as West Ham would rather spent their last bit of the transfer kitty on Nobby Solano, as a last minute replacement for the desperately unlucky Kieron Dyer.
10.00pm - Leicester have made their 15th signing of the summer - despite having no manager - by bringing winger Marco Ferreira on loan from Benfica. According to our Portugese source, Benfica are happy to be rid of him.
9.45pm - Another player leaves Celtic as Rocco Quinn joins St Johnstone on loan. Loans, free transfers, where's the big money?!
9.05pm - Harry Redknapp has made another quality African addition to his squad. He's blagged his way into obtaining Fulham midfielder Papa Bouba Diop on a three-year deal.
8.45pm - Martin O'Neill continues to boost his paper thin squad with the signing of Togolese striker Moustapha Salifou from Stade Brest. No sniggering at the back!
8.40pm - Watford have made an intriguing capture, youngster Santiago Aloi from River Plate. He could turn out to be a real find, and go on to bring Watford back up to the top flight and then leave for an eye-boggling sum of money. Or not.
8.20pm - The SPL is putting the money-mad Premier League to shame at the moment with all it's wheeling and dealing. Hibs have signed French striker Mickael Antoine-Curier from Norwegian outfit FK Haugesund.
8.10pm - A shock/relief for Boro fans... Gary O'Neill's proposed £5 (FIVE) million move from Portsmouth to Boro has fallen through after the player failed a medical on Teeside! That's a good player lost or fat payout saved, depending on what way you view it.
7.30pm - Hearts have continued to bring in all-comers as they welcome Sheffield United striker Christian Nade in with open arms, with a nice juicy three-year contract for the Frenchman to dig into.
7.25pm - Cue much rejoicing in the blue half of Manchester... Bernardo Corradi has completed his loan move to Parma! surely now no one can deny Sven's managerial credentials.
7.05pm - Brum also get midfielder Wilson Palacios to sign on the dotted line until the end of the year. Considering that he arrives from Honduran side Olimpia, it's not really a surprise that he is a Honduras international.
6.45pm - Birmingham sign Celta Vigo midfielder Borja Oubina, capped twice for Spain, on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal. These sort of deals are becoming more a more common these days. With that and companies buying stakes in footballers it gives rise to the question: Does anyone actually own any of their players anymore?
6.25pm - It's all happening north of the border, as Hearts sign young goalkeeper Anthony Basso and teenager Elias Wagner. A certain presenter on a certain 24 hour rolling news hype-machine says "whiteknuckle ride" again.
6.10pm - In the years to come, remember that you were here when you heard the news that Nobby Solano was having a medical at West Ham. The Peruvian dynamo will join the Hammers provided Big Sam can get his hands on Abdoulaye Faye.
5.55pm - The transfer express shifts up a gear as we enter the evening. Derby have signed Celtic's Kenny Miller for £3 million. The transfer express gets stuck between stations due to signal failure.
5.25pm - A Scottish double for you now. Gretna sign Sheffield United defender Evan Horwood on loan until the end of the year. Caley Thistle sign Hibs keeper Zibi Malkowski on a season long loan and wlll go straight into Saturday's squad to face... Hibs!
5.10pm - Big news for Spurs and United fans waiting on news about the fate of Jermain Defoe - Werder Bremen have signed Germany under-21 International Sebastian Bonisch from Schalke for £2 million!
5.00pm - "Stand by for a whiteknuckle ride!" Not our words, but someone else's, obviously. If the news that Motherwell keeper Alan Martin has joined Leeds on a two-year deal doesn't turn them at least a little pink, there is something wrong with you.
4.55pm - Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy could be phoning in performances for Fulham next season, as he is apparently in talks over a move from North to West London.
4.35pm - 'Sensational' seems to be the word of the minute on a well-known sports news channel. They are all in a lather over an alleged approach by Manchester United for Jermain Defoe.
4.25pm - Classic 'tease' headline: Chesterfield sign Rooney. It's obviously Adam Rooney of Stoke, who has joined the Spireites on a four-month loan deal. Wayne Rooney is going to Macclesfield.
4.15pm - Hearts are on the verge of a double capture, and they aren't even from Lithuania. Christian Nade and Anthony Le Tallec are on their way to Edinburgh. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid have snapped up Thiago Motta and hope to get Juan Roman Riquelme by the end of the day.
3.30pm - Liverpool's assistant manager Paco Ayesteran is leaving the club. Not exactly a transfer, true, but here's Rafa Benitez's take: "Paco has told me he wants to leave, apart from that I cannot say any more. We will have to assess the situation."
3.10pm - Henri Camara's alleged £3m move from Wigan to Manchester City would seem to be a myth. The Senegalese striker will have to settle for a switch to Derby County instead.
2.50pm - It's the news all Manchester City fans have been waiting for - Bernardo Corradi would seem to be on the verge of a season-long loan move to Parma. The three-goals-a-season "ace" is just hours away from being a distant - albeit terrible - memory.
2.05pm - There has been much talk of Portsmouth making some deadline-day signings, but they are in selling mode at the moment. Their right-sided midfielder Gary O'Neil is currently at the Riverside undergoing a medical ahead of a £5m move to Middlesbrough.
1.45pm - Other titbits you might or might not be aware of. After receiving the back of everyone at Celtic all week long, Kenny Miller would seem to be in talks with Derby over a move from Parkhead. Elsewhere, Preston have taken Blackburn's Paul Gallacher on a six-month loan.
1.15pm - Things starting to warm up slightly. Middlesbrough have signed an Egyptian mate for Mido - it's Mohamed Shawky from Al-Ahly. In other news, Southampton have taken Jason Euell from Boro on loan for a season, while Euell's locker at The Valley goes the way of Reading's Sam Sodje - a new loan signing.
12.30pm - The Davies deal is done! Interestingly structured, this. It is a year-long loan move from West Brom to Aston Villa, with an option for a permanent move at the end of the season.
12.10pm - Curtis Davies is in the building! The West Bromwich captain is at Villa Park, and will complete his £9m move imminently.
11.45am - Torino fans will be feasting their eyes on one of the most spectacularly inconsistent players in the world this season after the club secured a season loan for Internazionale's Alvaro Recoba.
11.30am - Rangers have snapped up Norwegian youngster Thomas Kind Bendiksen with the player due to arrive in Glasgow today. "It's a dream come true. I received good offers from both Tromsų and Rangers but it was too tempting to move to a club abroad," said Bendiksen.
11.05am - Ooh, it's all going off, isn't it? Well, no. But Dejan Stefanovic is on his way to Fulham from Portsmouth, subject to a work permit which he will obviously get.
11.00am - No deal! Birmingham's efforts to sign Peter Luccin have amounted to nought, with the Frenchman opting to join Real Zaragoza instead (well, wouldn't you?). Said Steve Bruce: "The Luccin deal looks like it has drifted away unfortunately. That was the one we have been chasing all week."
10.55am - This just in! Harry Worley who has just gone on loan to Carlisle from Chelsea is, we are told, the boyfriend of loudmouth Big Brother evictee Charley Uchea. Miss Uchea was gutted enough when her cousin Kieran Richardson went to Sunderland ("Who the f*** are Sunderland?") - Harry's Carlisle move could very well prove a relationship-wrecker.
10.45am - Another man out of Chelsea, and this time it's someone you might have heard of. Glen Johnson is on his way to Portsmouth in a deal reported as "more than £3 million". How much more? He has signed a four-year contract as Fratton Park, where he has already played on loan.
10.35am - Poor old Kenny Deuchar. The doctor became a cult hero when his goals fired Gretna towards the SPL. Now they are there, he can't even get a start and has now gone on loan to St Johnstone.
10.10am - Deal! Marcus Bent has had more clubs than Peter Stringfellow (who, on reflection, may have only had the one), and has reached double figures with a season-long loan move from Charlton to Wigan.
9.55am - Peter Kenyon hinted it could be a major day of departures at Chelsea and so it is proving! They have shipped out, er, Harry Worley. The youth team defender is off to Carlisle United on loan, and the fact that we're telling you this says something about the lack of meaningful action so far this morning.
9.25am - So, what can we expect to go through today? Well, Newcastle should tie up the signings of Abdoulaye Faye and Habib Beye of Bolton and Marseille respectively. Likewise Birmingham should capture Peter Luccin and Mohammed Kallon. Curtis Davies' move to Aston Villa from West Brom is all but completed. West Ham will spend the day in pursuit of Nicky Shorey and Derby's GIles Barnes. Everton, meanwhile, have already taken Thomas Gravesen on loan from Celtic but also want Juan Roman Riquelme and Ghana midfielder Stephen Appiah.
9.15am - No, Burnley will not be signing Ronaldinho, although Chelsea just might following talks with Barcelona officials in Monte Carlo. It is a massive long shot, however.
8.55am - All quiet on the transfer front. This calls for some underhand tactics often used by sports news TV channels. Here goes: Will Ronaldinho be running out at Turf Moor this weekend? Find out in 20 minutes!
8.30am - It has been a slow start to the final day of the transfer window. The best we can do at the moment is Rangers taking Amdy Faye on loan from Charlton and Fulham loaning Gabriel Zakuani to Stoke. Both are season-long deals.
