Spiller set to make his comeback

Mon 01 Sep, 03:00 PM

Danny Spiller could make his first appearance in almost a year when Millwall host Colchester in a first-round Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash. The midfielder played just seven games for the Lions following his move from Gillingham last summer before a hernia problem sidelined him for the rest of the season.

A muscle spasm then delayed Spiller's return this term, but he was an unused substitute against Huddersfield on Saturday and is in line for a run-out against the U's.

Striker Gary Alexander missed out at the weekend with a bruised ankle and is unlikely to be risked, and midfielder Marc Laird is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Marcus Bignot is building up his match fitness following a knee injury and fellow full-back Danny Senda (knee) remains a long-term absentee.
